Adictivo Extra Añejo is a slow-aged tequila from Jalisco, Mexico. It rests for seven years in French oak barrels. That is more than double the three-year minimum for the extra añejo class.
It starts with 100% blue Weber agave cooked in brick ovens. The juice is double distilled in stainless steel pot stills with a copper coil. You can expect a warm nose of honey and caramel, with vanilla, sweet spice and toasted oak.
The palate is soft and honeyed. Caramel and cooked agave mingle with oak and dried fruit. The long, smooth finish brings lingering sweetness and warm spice. In 2017 it won Gold at the San Diego Spirits Festival.
Sip it neat and slowly. It pairs nicely with a rich dinner or a dark chocolate dessert. It also makes a lovely gift.
