Crafted in San Luis del Río, Oaxaca, Mexico, Mezcal Amarás Espadín Reposado is an artisanal agave spirit that marries traditional mezcal production with subtle wood maturation. Harvested from 100% Espadín agave that takes up to 8 years to mature, the piñas are artisanal-cooked in traditional conical stone pits with oak wood, crushed using a horse-drawn stone tahona wheel, and open-fermented in pine wood vats with natural wild yeasts. Double-distilled in copper pot stills, the spirit is rested for 3 months in toasted American oak casks. This brief resting period softens the vibrant agave and mesquite smoke core, layering soft vanilla, warm oak, and butterscotch tones into the spirit.
Food Pairing: Grilled pork tenderloin, roasted poblano peppers, chicken mole, aged Manchego cheese, grilled octopus, or churros with caramel sauce.
Tasting Notes: Soft golden amber in appearance with bright clarity, a smooth medium body, and slow, delicate legs.
Nose: Warm and inviting, opening with sweet cooked agave, gentle mesquite smoke, and toasted oak, supported by soft vanilla, light cinnamon spice, and subtle roasted nuts.
Palate: Smooth, balanced, and velvety on the palate, featuring caramelized agave nectar and butterscotch upfront before unfolding into layers of mild wood smoke, toasted oak, light nutmeg, and gentle pepper spice.
Finish: Medium-long, warm, and smooth with lingering notes of gentle oak spice, sweet vanilla, and a soft, smoky agave warmth.
Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a traditional clay copita or Glencairn glass, or over a single large ice sphere as a rich, smoky sipping mezcal.
