This distinctive sparkling wine originates from the Limoux region in Languedoc, Southern France. Produced by Maison Antech, a family-owned estate now led by sixth-generation winemaker Françoise Antech, "M Le Mauzac" is a tribute to the region's heritage. While Limoux is famous for being the birthplace of sparkling wine (predating Champagne), this specific cuvée focuses on Mauzac, the traditional "soul" grape of the appellation. The winery's philosophy is rooted in sustainable viticulture and "precision" winemaking, utilizing the Méthode Traditionnelle to prove that Mauzac can produce world-class, bone-dry sparkling wine.
Wine Description
Antech "M Le Mauzac" presents a bright pale yellow colour with fine, persistent bubbles. The sensory profile is highly characteristic of the varietal, leading with unique aromas of dried apple peel, acacia flowers, and honey, accented by a distinct mineral "stony" quality. On the palate, the wine is sharp, clean, and incredibly fresh. It is a Brut Nature, meaning it has zero dosage (no added sugar), allowing the natural acidity and the varietal's signature "green apple" bite to shine through. It is characterized by its tension and a long, saline finish that leaves the palate refreshed. This 100% Mauzac typically has an ABV of 12% and is aged on the lees for at least 18 months.
