Ataraxia Chardonnay
Crafted in South Africa, this Burgundy-style Chardonnay reflects the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley's cool-climate terroir. Ataraxia, founded by Kevin Grant, is celebrated for minimalist, soil-driven winemaking that champions authenticity over artifice.
Fermented and aged for 11 months in French oak barriques, including 17% new wood, it employs a rare Burgundian “Black Chardonnay” method. This approach enhances stability and depth while preserving vibrant fruit and minerality.
- Lifted aromas of white peach, citrus and subtle oak spice.
- Concentrated palate with creamy texture, briny notes and chiselled acidity.
- Finish shows savoury, flinty grip with lingering freshness.
Pairs beautifully with seafood, poultry or creamy pasta dishes.
