Aviation Old Tom American Gin presents a modern twist on a historical gin style, renowned for its richer and slightly sweeter profile compared to the standard London Dry Gin. This particular expression takes the innovative path, resting in American Single Malt Whiskey barrels, which infuses the gin with an added layer of complexity and depth.
Aging Process: The gin is aged in barrels previously used to mature American Single Malt Whiskey, adopting the nuanced flavors of the wood and the spirit that once resided within. This maturation period allows the gin to develop a smooth, round character with subtle hints of the malted whiskey that complement the botanicals.
Botanicals and Flavor Profile: Aviation Old Tom American Gin is crafted using a selection of botanicals that provide a balanced foundation for the barrel-aging process. The whiskey barrels contribute to the flavor profile, imparting notes of vanilla, oak, and a gentle warmth that enhances the gin's natural juniper and citrus characteristics.
Serving Suggestions: This barrel-rested gin is versatile and can be enjoyed on its own, over ice, or as a sophisticated component in cocktails. It shines particularly well in classics like the Martinez or Tom Collins, where its unique profile adds a new dimension to these time-honored recipes.
A Bridge Between Spirits: Aviation Old Tom American Gin serves as a bridge between the worlds of gin and whiskey, making it a unique addition to any spirit enthusiast's collection. It's a testament to the craft of barrel aging and the skill of blending different flavor profiles to create something truly exceptional.
