Forty years ago, the single barrel bourbon category did not exist. Elmer T. Lee changed everything. He revolutionized the industry by plucking select casks from Buffalo Trace’s metal-clad Warehouse H to honor Albert B. Blanton. This anniversary release celebrates that monumental moment in whiskey history. Pouring at a robust 124 proof, this unadulterated liquid retains all the incredibly nuanced barrel depth typically lost during standard dilution.
Housed in a striking acrylic presentation box, the bottle features a distinctive white horse stopper. The magic happens inside the barrel. Extreme temperature fluctuations inside those historic metal walls force the aging spirit deep into the charred oak staves. This aggressive interaction yields a profile packed with relentless baking spices, sticky caramel, and dark fruit elements. While you'll easily recognize the signature high-rye mash bill, the amplified cask strength adds an entirely new dimension of leathery sophistication.
Finding this uncut Kentucky straight bourbon requires serious dedication. Collectors heavily pursue this rarity. It's undeniably the absolute pinnacle of modern Buffalo Trace craftsmanship. Every single unadulterated sip of this high-proof spirit honors a legendary tradition that completely reshaped our contemporary whiskey drinking culture today. This commemorative release showcases several notable characteristics:
- Drawn exclusively from the legendary Warehouse H
- Bottled at a cask strength of 124 proof
- Features a commemorative white horse stopper
- Includes a custom luxury acrylic presentation box
