The Fattoria di Castelvecchi boasts an illustrious historical past, with the ancient winery dating back to the tenth or eleventh century, excavated beneath the castle. The estate's significance is tied to its strategic location in the heart of Tuscany, situated between Florence and Siena. The name 'Solana' is a tribute to a historic owner of the estate, Marquis Abelardo Gutierrez de la Solana, who contributed to the territory's reputation for quality wine over a century ago.
Wine Description
In the glass, it shows an intense red colour with purple overtones. The sensory profile is elegant and intense; the perfume features notes of violet, rose, and balsamic herbs. These aromatic notes warrant hints of red fruits such as blackberry, wild strawberries, and candied fruit, which evolve into a delicate, refined bouquet of spices. On the palate, the wine is described as wide and elegant, supported by soft tannins and scents of spices such as cloves and pepper, coffee, and chocolate.
Food Pairing
Given its bold flavours and robust tannins, the 'Solana' Super Tuscan pairs wonderfully with rich, savoury dishes. Suggested pairings include second dishes featuring red meat, such as roasted or grilled steak or lamb, and rich pasta dishes like those with Bolognese or creamy sauces.
