Connemara Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey is a distinctive peated single malt produced at Cooley Distillery in Ireland. Inspired by the historic practice of drying malted barley over peat fires, it combines the smooth, sweet character associated with Irish whiskey with an expressive layer of clean peat smoke. Bottled at 40% ABV, it balances sweet barley, honey, baked apple, vanilla oak, gentle spice, and earthy peat for a smoky yet approachable style.
Food Pairing: Smoked salmon, grilled lamb, roast pork, smoked cheddar, roasted almonds, baked apples, dark chocolate, and vanilla bread pudding.
Tasting Notes: Smooth and lightly sweet with malted barley, honey, baked apple, vanilla oak, gentle spice, and clean peat smoke.
Nose: Sweet barley with wafts of peat smoke, baked apple, honeyed sweetness, and subtle smoky character.
Palate: Lightly honeyed with sweet barley, clean peat smoke, vegetal peat notes, gentle spice, and vanilla oak.
Finish: Lingering smoke with warming oak, gentle spice, sweet almond, and persistent peat.
The core tasting profile is taken from Connemara's official notes.
