The Davidoff Winston Churchill is the 2015 ground-up reblend of Davidoff's tribute to Sir Winston, pulling tobacco from four countries into one medium-bodied cigar. Davidoff scrapped the original 2007 blend entirely rather than tweak it, rebuilding the line with new vitolas, new packaging and a new recipe. Cigar Aficionado scored it 90 points the year it launched.
An Ecuadorian Rojiza wrapper gives the cigar its reddish cast and creamy lead, set over a Mexican San Andrés binder. Five filler leaves carry the blend: Piloto Mejorado Seco, Piloto Seco and a hybrid Olor/Piloto from the Dominican Republic, with Seco from Condega and Estelí in Nicaragua. Each cigar is made at the Cigars Davidoff factory in the Dominican Republic.
The profile opens on toasted almond and cedar, then moves through mocha, cocoa and a steady cream. White pepper sits on the retrohale without taking over. It reads medium to full, richer than the Signature or Grand Cru but smoother than the Late Hour or Yamasá.
Each vitola carries a name drawn from Churchill's life, from The Statesman robusto to The Aristocrat churchill. Pair it with a single malt, a cognac, or a dark coffee. This is the Davidoff to reach for when you want range and depth without committing to the brand's fullest blends.
