This accessible and terroir-driven red wine originates from the United States, specifically from the Guenoc Valley AVA in California’s Lake County. Established in 1981, the Guenoc Valley was the first American Viticultural Area to be granted to a region with just a single winery a distinction it still holds today under the Langtry Estate name. The winery's heritage is deeply tied to the Victorian actress and socialite Lillie Langtry, who purchased the 4,000-acre estate in 1888 to forge her own path in the wine world. The winemaking philosophy focuses on the unique volcanic soils and high-elevation vineyards, which naturally limit vine vigor to concentrate flavors in the fruit.
Wine Description
Guenoc Cabernet Sauvignon presents a deep ruby colour with a bold and fruit-forward profile. The sensory profile features expressive aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and red raspberry, layered with sophisticated notes of toasty vanilla, cedar, and a hint of rhubarb-like tartness. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied and "supple," showcasing generous flavours of cassis, dark chocolate, and espresso. It is characterized by its rounded tannin structure and a smooth, moderately long finish with whispers of baking spice and caramel. While the estate champions its unique geological history and high-altitude air, this bottling is produced using conventional methods and is not certified organic.
