It’s time to dust off the passport because your palate is bound for a European adventure. Macabeo is a well-known grape in Spain but is still somewhat unknown to the rest of the world. This versatile grape is included in some of the most popular wines in its native country, where it is grown in vineyards across the Iberian Peninsula and even goes by several different names. The style of wine this local grape creates varies depending on the climate and winemaking practices of the region where it grows. Our International Press Macabeo is an approachable yet exciting introduction to this foreign varietal. Crafted from the concentrated fruit of old vines, this wine is intriguing and charming with citrus peel and dairy aromas. Flavors of luscious tree fruit on the palate contribute to a sweet finish, making this bottle engaging enough to be enjoyed on its own or alongside traditional Spanish cuisine.
