Jefferson's Reserve is a richer, older pour from Jefferson's Bourbon. The brand was started in 1997 by father and son Chet and Trey Zoeller. Their craft is blending: they pick barrels with care and marry them in very small batches. The label also calls this one Very Old Very Small Batch. It is a Kentucky straight bourbon built from mature, hand-selected barrels.
The brand describes it as a big bourbon with plenty of flavor up front and real weight in the middle. On the nose, you find dark fruit and vanilla, brightened by a note of green apple. The palate turns to oak, toasted almonds and toffee. The finish is bold, spicy and rich. It is a bourbon that rewards a slow, careful sip.
The current release has won serious praise. It took Double Gold with 96 points at the New York International Spirits Competition 2026. It also earned Double Gold at the John Barleycorn Awards 2025 and Gold at the Ascot Awards 2026.
Enjoy it neat or over one large ice cube. It also makes a deep, flavorful Old Fashioned or Manhattan. At the table, it holds up to grilled steak, roast duck and barbecued ribs. Creamy brie or aged gouda make a nice match too. For dessert, pour a glass next to pecan pie or crème brûlée.
This bottle is a fine pick for whiskey fans who like to explore. If you enjoy comparing premium bourbons, you will find plenty to talk about here. It is also a lovely bottle to open for a birthday or a quiet celebration. If you are brand new to bourbon, its bold spice may feel strong at first.
