Introduction
This red wine originates from the United States, specifically from the Columbia Valley region of Washington State. Produced by K Vintners, a brand under the House of Smith, it was created by renowned winemaker Charles Smith, who famously began his winemaking career in 1999 selling bottles out of the back of his Astro van. The winery's philosophy is rooted in a 'wine for the people' approach, focusing on small-lot, single-vineyard expressions and high-quality field blends that reflect the integrity of the site through native yeast fermentation and sustainable farming practices.
Wine Description
K Vintners Vino Rosso displays a beautiful, shimmering dark ruby red colour. The nose is highly inviting, offering aromas of small Italian cherries, black plum, and blueberries, seamlessly layered with notes of loose tobacco, suede, and a hint of cool ash. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied and punchy, featuring flavours of wild berries and subtle spices that are neatly wrapped in a smooth, leathery texture. It is characterized by its vibrant energy, fine-grained tannins, and a short yet pleasant finish. This blend typically consists of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Sangiovese (though some vintages include Cabernet Franc), with an ABV of approximately 13.5%. While the estate follows sustainable management practices, including zero use of pesticides and herbicides, this specific bottling is not certified organic. The optimal drinking window is from release through approximately five years.
