Originating from Argentina in the South American region, specifically within the high-altitude Uco Valley appellation in Mendoza, La Posta 'Tinto' Red Blend represents an energetic, fruit-forward, and accessible expression of classic Argentine red varieties. Created by pioneer Dr. Laura Catena alongside winemaker Estela Perinetti, La Posta celebrates small-scale artisanal grape growers across Mendoza, with each bottling named in honour of local vineyard families and their traditions. Sourced from high-elevation vineyards situated along the alluvial foothills of the Andes Mountains on well-drained gravelly clay and limestone soils, the winemaking philosophy emphasizes sustainable viticulture, hand harvesting, temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation, and gentle barrel aging in French oak (approximately 10% to 15% new) for eight months. The result is a vibrant red blend that highlights pure dark fruit character, supple texture, and effortless everyday drinkability.
Wine Description
The wine presents a deep, clear dark ruby purple colour with bright violet reflections along the rim. An expressive, fruit-driven bouquet opens with generous aromas of wild blackberry, dark plum, red cherry, and crushed blueberry, interwoven with subtle notes of cocoa powder, violet petals, sweet baking spices, and light toasted oak. On the palate, it is medium bodied, smooth, and lush, delivering ripe flavours of dark berries, red fruit jam, and subtle mineral earth, all balanced by a bright, mouthwatering core of natural acidity. Framed by soft, fine-grained tannins and a rounded mid-palate structure, it concludes with a clean, persistent finish marked by lingering berry fruit, gentle spice, and a hint of dark chocolate. Composed primarily of Malbec blended with Bonarda and Syrah, it showcases Mendoza's high-altitude sunshine and fruit purity with approachable charm, balance, and versatility.
