About the Wine
Layer Cake Chardonnay is sourced from Monterey and Santa Barbara vineyards, where sunshine and cool Pacific influence extend ripening and help preserve structure and aromatic freshness. Granite-laced soils near the Santa Lucia Highlands and sandy sites around Los Alamos contribute citrus-blossom fragrance, mineral character, and concentrated tropical fruit.
Winemaking and Flavor
The producer ferments the wine in stainless steel at low temperatures to protect its aromatics, then ages selected lots in seasoned French oak for balance. Meyer lemon, wet stone, and lime blossom meet guava and pineapple, while juicy peach, golden apple, creamy richness, vanilla, and subtle oak broaden the layered palate.
Pairing
A clean, crisp finish keeps the wine lively after its generous fruit and lemon-curd texture. Its balance of freshness and creaminess works naturally with creamy pasta, roasted poultry, lobster, crab, and other rich seafood, while soft aged cheeses and nutty charcuterie offer equally comfortable pairings.
