Layer Cake Malbec Mendoza 750ml is a red wine made from Malbec and bottled here in a single 750ml format at 14.5% ABV / 29 proof. Layer Cake sources the wine from Argentina, with the Sea of Stones vineyard and its deep alluvial cobblestones central to the expression. The producer allows the grapes to ripen thoroughly, harvesting four to six weeks after neighboring vineyards. Each cluster is picked by hand, then destemmed and sorted by hand before vinification.
The winery describes brooding black fruit layered with earth, truffle, and dark cocoa, with the vineyard’s mineral character running through the wine. On the palate, fresh blackberry and simmering chocolate are joined by a savory note, while the full ripening period supports the wine’s depth without obscuring its fruit. The combination of Mendoza-grown Malbec, careful hand selection, and the stony vineyard site gives this bottle a focused sense of place.
