Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2015 is a red wine from France, produced in the Bordeaux region and the Saint-Julien appellation. It is the second wine of Château Lagrange, a Troisième Grand Cru Classé (Third Growth). Created in 1983, the wine is seen as much more than a second wine, made from vines that are already 30 years old on average. The wine is a classic expression of the estate's terroir, which features fine gravel soils for the Cabernet Sauvignon and clay soils for the Merlot.
Wine Description
The wine displays a brilliant nice colour with purple hues, sometimes a deep and intense purply blue. The aromatic profile is delicate, full of black and red fruits, with notes of red cherries, strawberry, light red currant jus, and subtle hints of menthol and spices. The varietal composition is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot. It is a full-bodied, structured, and luscious wine. The palate is fresh, juicy, and charming, with a dense texture that gives concentration. Stylistically, it is a well balanced wine, described as the most complete Fiefs de Lagrange since the 2009 vintage. The wine is matured for 13 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which are new. The finish is long and persistent, with a solid tannic structure that is fine and elegant. The ABV is 13%. The optimal drinking window is from 2018 to 2030, with the recommendation to wait until 2022. The wine is produced under sustainable viticulture practices.

Food Pairing
This wine is a superb match for grilled lamb chops, duck breast with cherry sauce, or a classic roast beef. Suggested pairings also include lentil stew, mushroom risotto, roast chicken, or a stuffed duck.
Vintage Quality
The 2015 vintage in Saint-Julien produced homogeneous, high-quality wines, which are vivid and refined. The growing season was marked by a dry, mild spring, which led to excellent flowering, followed by a particularly dry summer. The resulting wines have ripe fruit, fine acidity, and tannins with the ability to age.
