Produced at the Domaine de Chez Maillard in the Fins Bois cru, Leyrat VSOP Réserve is an award-winning single-estate cognac from Domaine Leyrat. Distilled exclusively from Ugni Blanc grapes grown, fermented, distilled, aged, and bottled on the estate premises, this expression matures in French oak casks for significantly longer than the legal VSOP minimum. The extended aging in both new and aged oak barrels allows the vibrant fruit characteristics of the Fins Bois terroir to integrate seamlessly with warm oak influences, resulting in a elegant cognac packed with aromas of dry white flowers, pastry, candied citrus, and soft spice.
Food Pairing: Soft cheeses such as Brie or Camembert, apple tarte tatin, dark chocolate-covered ginger, roasted pork tenderloin, or enjoyed neat as a post-dinner digestif.
Tasting Notes: Warm golden-amber with bright brass reflexes, displaying medium-to-full density and steady, well-defined legs lining the glass.
Nose: Expressive, refined, and aromatic, opening with dry white flowers, candied lemon peel, and ripe peach, followed by fresh butter pastry, vanilla bean, and toasted oak spice.
Palate: Velvety, smooth, and balanced on the palate, featuring sweet orchard fruit, orange marmalade, and blossom honey upfront before evolving into soft oak tannins, cinnamon, nutmeg, and subtle gingerbread.
Finish: Long, warm, and elegant with lingering notes of candied fruit, light wood spice, sweet pastry, and a clean, dry oak finish.
Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a tulip glass, over a large ice sphere, or as a rich, sophisticated base for classic spirit-forward cocktails.
