Flavor, brewing & the story behind this coffee
Some flavor combinations are simply meant to happen. Think about a big breakfast with a hot cup of coffee, crispy bacon on the plate and maple syrup running off the pancakes. Eventually, that syrup finds the bacon—and everybody knows that’s the piece you eat first. That sweet and smoky combination inspired Backdraft®.
We begin with premium 100% Arabica coffee beans, freshly roasted in small batches in Maxatawny, Pennsylvania. After roasting, we add maple syrup and smoky bacon flavors to create a distinctive breakfast-inspired coffee.
The sweet maple flavor arrives first, followed by the savory, smoky character of bacon. Together, they create a smooth and aromatic coffee that’s familiar, unexpected and completely different from an ordinary cup.
The Story Behind Backdraft®
The name Backdraft® comes directly from the fire service. A backdraft can occur when fresh oxygen suddenly enters a superheated, oxygen-depleted space, creating an explosive reaction.
Our version is considerably safer—but the combination of maple syrup and smoky bacon still delivers an explosion of flavor.
Enjoy Backdraft® black to experience the complete maple-and-bacon combination, or add a splash of cream for an even richer breakfast-inspired cup. It’s a memorable way to start your morning and a great coffee to serve when you want people asking, “What are you brewing?”
Firehouse Coffee is owned by Mike Adams, a retired firefighter and MedEvac flight paramedic with over 40 years of service. Every small batch comes from our Maxatawny, Pennsylvania roastery. Meet Mike.
