Lavish Lemon Dulce comes from Marcotte Distilling, a husband-and-wife business in Philomath, Oregon. Joe and Janelle Marcotte opened their storefront in 2018. They focus on flavored moonshine with a modern twist. This one is all about sweet, sunny lemon.
Open the bottle and you'll smell fresh lemon peel with a soft, sugary edge. The first sip is sweet and tart at once, a lot like homemade lemonade. Plenty of people say it reminds them of lemon drop candy. It stays smooth and lightly creamy, and the finish is clean and gently sweet.
This is a lighter, lower-strength moonshine than the classic jar. That means the citrus does the talking instead of the alcohol. It's a good pick if strong white lightning has never been your thing.
Serve it well chilled or over ice on a hot afternoon. Mix it with soda water for a quick spritz, or stir it into lemonade for a party pitcher. It goes nicely with light desserts, lemon tarts and fresh fruit.
