Monteleone Rumex Etna Rosso 2022 is a structured and mineral-driven red wine from the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna, showcasing the depth of Nerello Mascalese. Pale ruby in color, it opens with distinctive aromas of graphite, basalt, and red fruit. The palate is full-bodied and textured, offering layers of pomegranate, subtle toast, and mineral complexity supported by crisp acidity and chalky, well-defined tannins. Focused and powerful, it finishes long with a savory, toasted edge and firm structure that will integrate further with time.
Food Pairing: Grilled meats, roast lamb, mushroom dishes, charcuterie, or aged cheeses.
92 Points - James Suckling
Graphite dominates with basalt in a conservative style. This has a chewy palate, crisp acidity and a toasted finish with ripe yet chalky tannins. Needs time to integrate the oak yet drinkable now.
