Murray McDavid Mission Gold Bowmore 23 Year Old is a limited-release Islay single malt Scotch whisky distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2024 at 50.3% ABV. Matured initially in bourbon hogsheads before spending 15 years in a first-fill Port pipe, it offers a complex balance of delicate peat smoke, rich fruit and floral sweetness. Notes of cherry blossom, cocoa, rose water and dark honey lead into a lingering finish of ripe fruit, sweet smoke and liquorice.
Food Pairing: Smoked salmon, roasted duck, aged cheddar, dark chocolate, dried fruit, cherry tart or rich chocolate desserts.
Tasting Notes: Rich and layered, with delicate peat smoke, ripe fruit, floral sweetness, dark honey, cocoa and subtle coastal character.
Nose: Elegant and aromatic, with cherry blossom, delicate smoke and rich cocoa.
Palate: Smooth and complex, with coastal smoke, fragrant rose water and dark honey.
Finish: Long and lingering, with ripe fruit, sweet peat smoke and a hint of liquorice.
Serve: Enjoy neat in a Glencairn glass, allowing it to breathe before adding a few drops of water to explore its smoky and fruity character.
