Hailing from the McLaren Vale region of South Australia, this wine is a classic expression of one of Australia's most historic family owned estates. Founded in 1892 by Alexander Campbell Johnston, Pirramimma—an Aboriginal phrase meaning 'the moon and the stars'—has been operated by the Johnston family for over 130 years.
Wine Description
This Cabernet Sauvignon presents a deep maroon hue with vibrant dark red edges. The nose is complex and highly aromatic, offering a bouquet of blackcurrant, blackberry, and bay leaf, accented by hints of truffles, cigar box, and toasty nutmeg spice. On the palate, the wine is full bodied yet elegant, delivering intense flavours of briary black fruit and red currant. It exhibits a linear style with sleek tannins and fine acidity, leading to a focused, structured finish with impressive length.
Food Pairing
This robust Cabernet Sauvignon is best paired with hearty, savoury dishes such as grilled steak, roasted lamb with rosemary, or braised beef brisket. For a vegetarian alternative, it pairs beautifully with mushroom risotto or eggplant Parmesan, where the wine's acidity cuts through the richness of the cheese and earthiness of the vegetables.
