Experience the legendary Sazerac Cocktail Kit, featuring everything you need to craft New Orleans' official cocktail. Dating back to the 1830s, the Sazerac is one of America's oldest known cocktails and a cornerstone of New Orleans drinking culture. This sophisticated rye whiskey cocktail showcases the unique flavors of the Crescent City with its distinctive anise-scented rinse and aromatic complexity.
What's Inside:
- Sazerac Rye Whiskey (750ml) - the namesake rye with bold spice, citrus, and licorice notes, perfect for this classic cocktail
- Herbsaint Liqueur (750ml) - New Orleans' original anise-flavored liqueur, created as an absinthe substitute and essential to an authentic Sazerac
- Peychaud's Aromatic Cocktail Bitters (5oz) - the signature New Orleans bitters created by Antoine Amédée Peychaud, with bright cherry and floral notes
The Classic Recipe:
- 2 oz Sazerac Rye Whiskey
- 1 sugar cube (or 1/4 oz simple syrup)
- 3-4 dashes Peychaud's Bitters
- Herbsaint rinse
Rinse a chilled rocks glass with Herbsaint and discard excess. In a mixing glass, muddle sugar cube with bitters, add rye and ice, then stir until well-chilled. Strain into the prepared glass and garnish with a lemon peel. The Sazerac is a bold, aromatic cocktail that captures the spirit of New Orleans—perfect for those who appreciate historic cocktails with distinctive character and regional authenticity.
