Small Gully Wines is located in the heart of the Barossa Valley, South Australia—one of the country’s most prestigious wine regions. Founded with a focus on crafting wines of intensity and character, the winery is known for its bold, fruit-driven expressions. The ‘Mr. Black’s Concoction’ series embodies the estate’s commitment to showcasing the strength and complexity of traditional Rhône-style blends.
Wine Description
This GSM blend—Grenache, Shiraz, and Mataro—offers a rich and layered sensory experience. Deep ruby in colour, the wine opens with aromas of ripe red berries, dried herbs, and subtle earthy notes. On the palate, the Grenache brings sweet raspberry and red currant tones, the Shiraz adds body, dark plum, and black pepper spice, while the Mataro contributes firm structure and a savoury finish. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is balanced by fresh acidity and smooth tannins, delivering impressive length and complexity. This blend is unashamedly bold yet remarkably refined, a hallmark of Barossa craftsmanship.
Food Pairing
Ideal pairings include slow-roasted lamb shoulder, duck confit, or smoked sausages with rosemary and garlic. The wine’s structure and depth complement richly flavoured dishes with hearty textures. Together, they create an unforgettable dining experience.
