Tasting notes: Redcurrant, Sencha Tea, Orange
Gathaithi AA comes from Nyeri County, where more than 1,600 members of the Gathaithi Farmers Cooperative grow coffee in cool volcanic highlands around 1,800 metres. The lot combines SL28, SL34, Batian and Ruiru 11 and is processed as a washed coffee for clarity and precision.
Tanat scores this filter-roasted lot at 87. Its cup opens with crisp redcurrant and bright red-berry acidity, then develops an elegant sencha-tea quality before juicy orange softens the profile and extends the finish. The result is a clean, expressive presentation of Nyeri’s distinctive terroir.
