The Tatuaje Red Humidified Bag is a particularly good way to understand the range of Pete Johnson’s cigar portfolio without committing to five completely different sizes and formats. Rather than filling the pack with variations of a single blend, Tatuaje selected five distinct 6" x 50 Toros, each representing a different side of the brands and blends associated with Johnson. The result is less a conventional sampler than a guided tour through five interpretations of the medium-bodied style that has helped make Tatuaje one of the most respected names in modern boutique cigars.
Inside are one each of the Tatuaje Havana VI, Cabaiguan Guapos, L’Atelier Selection Spéciale, Nuevitas Estelí, and Négociant, all in the same classic Toro dimensions. Havana VI delivers the earthy, peppery Nicaraguan character most smokers associate with Tatuaje, while Cabaiguan Guapos offers a somewhat different expression of the portfolio. L’Atelier Selection Spéciale brings the blending philosophy of Johnson’s L’Atelier project into the mix, with Nuevitas Estelí and Négociant rounding out a collection that moves through spice, cedar, earth, sweetness and richer roasted character without simply repeating itself from cigar to cigar.
The resealable humidified bag makes the package especially useful for travel, gifting, or for the smoker who wants to explore Tatuaje without immediately buying several boxes. More importantly, keeping every cigar at 6 x 50 removes one of the variables when comparing blends. You're tasting five different cigars through essentially the same dimensions, making it easier to appreciate what changes when the tobacco and blending philosophy change rather than the vitola. For the established Tatuaje smoker it's a convenient assortment; for someone discovering Pete Johnson's cigars, it's an unusually sensible place to begin.
