Founded in 1945 by Francisco Martinez Bermell, Vera de Estenas has been crafting wines from their 47 hectares of estate fruit since their inception. The wine is 100% Bobal from en vaso (bush trained) vines 55-95 years of age located in the heart of Utiel-Requena on clay-calcareous soils with some river stones. Felix Martinez tends these vines organically, and uses only concrete tanks in the cellar. The grapes are destemmed and macerate on skins for about 12 days in concrete tanks with daily pump-overs until primary fermentation is complete, then gravity-fed off the skins to complete malolactic fermentation and age 3 months in concrete before being transferred to used French oak barrels for 5-6 months before bottling.
