Frequently asked
What is "American Single Malt"?
Emerging American whiskey category. Made from 100% malted barley at a single US distillery. Follows single malt tradition (Scottish/Irish style) but with American craft distillery character. Westward is a pioneer of the category. American Single Malt Whiskey Commission (ASMWC) is working toward formal category recognition.
American Single Malt vs Scotch Single Malt?
Same base composition (100% malted barley). Different maturation environment (American climate is more intense, faster aging). Different distillation traditions and cask selection philosophies. Genuinely different whisky expressions from the same raw material.
