Wheel Horse completely disregarded conventional boundaries with this release. Blending two completely distinct mash bills requires absolute precision. By marrying their robust bourbon and spicy rye, the distillery achieves a pivotal synergy that commands your attention from the very first pour. The outcome feels aggressively bold. This whiskey rests patiently in Caribbean rum casks, soaking up a lush, tropical undertone that transforms the entire profile.
Expect an intricate clash of contrasting flavors. The innate rye spice slices right through the dense molasses sweetness imparted by the rum maturation. Rather than masking the native grain character, the finishing barrel collaborates with the dual mash to construct a multifaceted profile that feels deliberate and immensely satisfying. This dram demands your respect.
- Matured in freshly charred American oak barrels
- Finished in authentic Caribbean rum casks
- Features a unique blend of two distinct mash bills
Pouring a glass reveals a remarkably vibrant copper hue. It's beautiful in the glass. That initial visual appeal foreshadows the robust interplay of burnt caramel and toasted oak that unfolds as the liquid hits your palate. We genuinely appreciate how the rum influence never overshadows the foundational grains, proving that a meticulous cask finish can elevate an ambitious blend into an absolute masterpiece.
