Blake's Pumpkin Spice is a flavored moonshine from Marcotte Distilling in Philomath, Oregon. Husband-and-wife team Joe and Janelle Marcotte run the distillery. They use extra distillation to soften the corn whiskey base, so the natural flavors come through. It is bottled at 50 proof, or 25% ABV.
The family says this one takes them back to going home for Thanksgiving. It tastes like a slice of homemade pumpkin pie. Warm baking spice wraps around soft pumpkin. A gentle sweetness keeps it easy to sip. The finish is smooth and warm, with spice that lingers.
Pour it chilled or over ice for a simple fall sipper. Mix it with apple cider for a cozy party drink. A splash in hot coffee works on a cold morning, too.
Serve it with apple pie, pumpkin desserts or a bowl of roasted nuts. It is a fun bottle to share at holiday gatherings. Of course, as the brand jokes, you could also keep it all to yourself.
If you love pumpkin season and want a light, sweet spirit, this one is worth a try. Its lower proof makes it gentle enough for slow sipping by the fire.
